Not All Things In Life

Not all things in life goes to plan
But you can only do the best you can
Lady luck has not been on your side
By her you are always denied
You work hard for your take home pay
And with your kids in the park play
You honour and you love your wife
And you lead a good and a moral life
Though your boss your work for him does praise
He knocked back your request for a raise
Yet you are not one to complain
And loyal to your boss you remain
You clock in on time every day
And you always work hard for your pay.

Whoever Said The World Is Small

I've travelled far from my old home
Yet I've not been to Paris or Rome
Just two of the many Cities I have not seen
Yet I have travelled in places brown and green
Though many have seen far more than me
I write of the beauty I see
Though time on my life ticks on ceaselessly
I'm getting on in years sixty three
It is a big World the World out there
And not one who has been to everywhere
Whoever said the World is small
When it is quite huge overall
From the stream of the brown mountain trout
One might say I've ventured far south.

The Great Footballers Of Brazil

Unrivalled for their football skill
The great footballers of Brazil
And though they too have known of defeat
In the World Cup one of the hardest teams to beat
The present World Champions are Italy
The World's best team as most would agree
But in the showpiece of World Football
Brazil have the best record of all
To Italy the 2006 World Champions well done
They were the best and the best won
But in 2010 their title they defend
A hard task of that why pretend
And one of their main threats is surely Brazil
A team known for their football skill.

So Good To Be Alive

A thing of beauty for all to behold
The capeweed in their lovely flowers of gold
And yellow blossoms covering the broom
It is a day of sunshine and of bloom,
Nesting birds chirp and sing on bush and tree
In the park of the old town by the sea
The chorus of the sweet voice of the Spring
And Nature's beauty an amazing thing
As beautiful as she has ever been
Mother Nature she looks stunning in her green
A high today of 22 degrees
And warmth in the sunshine and the breeze
Near prime of Spring and Summer on the way
And so good to be alive on such a day.

Our Nephew Thomas

Our nephew Thomas Duggan died at twenty three
And he is one I'll never meet or see
For he is one i never met before
And he is at rest now forever more
In distant Chicago in the U S A
From where i live a half a World away
His loss to his family time can only heal
My late brother John's son he has one brother Neil
I met his mother Nancy years ago
A lovely lady this for her a tragic blow
A devoted mother and to John a loving wife
She has a heavy cross to bear in life
He died in an accident in April of this year
Such sad news one would rather not to hear.

Saturday Night At The Local

Saturday night in The Ramble Inn Bar
Johnny the folk singer strums on his guitar
For his entertainment in beer he is paid
Not a hard one to please is Danny McDaid,
Saturday night the night for the sing along
Everyone gets a chance to sing a song
Anyone who sings will get a free beer
Saturday night is the night of good cheer,
Annie she sings and she receives an encore
Drinks her free beer and she sings a few more
Singing and dancing and reciting rhyme
Everyone's having a jolly good time,
Nobody is looking for trouble or fight
Down at the Local on Saturday night.

Enough Of War

Enough of war from war there is no gain
Only injuries, bloodshed and death and pain
What we need is love and peace and harmony
Enough of war and it's tragic history,
Enough of war for god and territory
And yet in the twenty first century
People are dying in war zones every day
For war in death and in suffering we pay,
Enough of war 'tis still seen worth a brag
To take up arms to honour your Nation's flag
Old long gone battles with pride we recall
We have not learned from the past at all
Far too much of war and of war men we do know
'Tis time that we did give peace a fair go.

When The Last Human Being

When the last human being from Planet Earth has gone
The Goddess of Nature will surely live on
Yes without us to bother her Nature will live
We take and take from her and in return little give
For our disrespect to her we will be made to pay
What goes around comes around as some do say
Nature for her extinct life forms never lament
The donosaurs came and the dinosaurs went
She gives life and the remains of her dead does receive
And in the face of death she does not laugh or grieve
But long after the last human being from the World has gone
Nature the immortal will be living on.

Baby Ella Gibson

Cannot understand a word she does say
Yet she is so clever in her baby way
She crawls around the kitchen floor
And opens every cupboard door
The year old daughter of Lisa and Shane
Ella Gibson does try hard to explain
Through her laughter and her tears her sense of joy and pain
Of such beautiful childhood innocence great memories to retain,
Her natural blond hair and big blue eyes
Each new thing for her a big surprise
As she tries to master the art of climbing and speech
High things on shelves she tries to reach,
Their innocence a marvellous thing
Joy to the World young children bring.

What Is Success

What is success it has never been mine
In their different ways people it do define
Some see success as money to your name
As a lack of such a barrier to fame
Though others with such thinking do not agree
Success in quite a different way they do see
They will tell you that you cannot know of success
If in your mind no room for happiness
And some do say for a successful life
You do not need what's known as inner strife
The successful person does seem quite carefree
On what success is so few do agree
We all do look at things quite differently
That's how it is and that's how 'twill always be.
