You In My Mind
If you could look into my mind
I know just what you'd see.
An image of the one I love
that means so much to me.
For in my mind I keep you close,
never ever far.
So when we part and can't be seen
I'll know just where you are.

A Heavy Heart
A heavy heart must be treated with care.
It must be made to feel as light as air.
Oh that this were easy to do,
I would do this thing for you.
But each heart must try to heal alone
and bring back the peace that it has known.

Winds
When all the winds that ever blew
cease to blow again,
only then will man understand
how time began.

Magnolias
Southern white flowers
you are the southern belle
giving to the scent of the south
a perfumed heavenly smell.
Placed in a bowl to float in water
brings your aroma to me.
Magnolias, beautiful magnolias
born of the stately tree.

Plenty
There's a horn of plenty,
plenty to go around.
But where he comes from
there's not much to be found.
He thinks about the plenty.
He wonders where they are?
When he stops his wonderin'
he knows they are too far,
too far away.

She burns the midnight oil.
She rubs her tired eyes.
She paces in her bare feet
and thinks of starry skies.
She looks up at the night sky
and thinks of words to write.

Raging fury flashes in a minute
and people wonder why?
If they were standing in my shoes
they would know like I.
Minutes go by and sense returns

There's an argument a brewin'.
There's a spat that is a stewin'.
Here it comes. I feel it.
It's like a tempest that blew in
and rocked a peaceful day.

Better Late Than Never
My life has been a poem
that I never found 'til late.
But when it came I finally knew
that the poem had been my fate.

Sunflower
Sunflower springing forth
from the ground
Lift your face when the sun's around.
Rise up tall
and stand up proud.
Do not cower
because a cloud
has covered up the sun.
Lift your petals
as if to say
'I praise the sun
that's come my way.'
