Hey stone on the ground
stubbed my toe on you.
Hey stone on the ground
it made me mad at you.
Picked you up, threw you far.
I should have put you in a jar.
Make you atone
you darn old stone.
You made me stub my toe.
Bet you didn't even know.

Send Back The Heart

Send back the heart I gave you.
I cannot breathe too well.
There's no need for you to keep it
for it's a living hell,
all by itself without my body.
It's lost and quite forlorn.
Send back the heart I gave you
for my body's wracked and torn.

The Hills

Mt. Everest, Mt McKinley
are both too high to climb.
But I can climb the hills I see
and forever pray that's where you'll be.
For there's no hill that is too high,
no precipice too steep
to hike uphill
and take the leap
into the arms of love.

Foolish Worry

Oh how foolish we are to think
that laugh and drink are wrong.
For when your days are over
no one remembers your song.

So sing, dance and be merry
and love all of your days.
Don't worry over death and taxes.
They'll belong to your yesterdays.

Cat

I heard the sound of a screeching cat
and wondered why the sound?
I heard it again but didn't go out
because I was housebound.
I contented myself with this one thought.
Even if that cat happened to die,
he had 8 more lives that he could try.

How To Look Back

I will not frown upon the things
I did not get to do.
For if I did I'd have spent my life
with too many things to rue.
Instead, I'll smile upon the things
that I did get done.
For these are the things that created my life,
each and every one.

I met a man of eighty-two
and what was it he loved to do?
He loved to sew with needle and thread.
He did it as he lay dying in bed.
I asked him why he did this thing?
He looked at me and then confessed
'Because it's the thing that I do best.'

Morose

I feel as if I'm lost at sea.
I don't know where to turn.
I get this way sometimes it seems.
It makes my stomach churn.
I guess I need to quiet down
and take things in my stride.
For this can't last 'cause if it does
I'll know that I have died.

Comparison

A bird can live anywhere.
It doesn't worry about rent.
Finds a tree. Picks one out.
Never feels that its without.

A man can't live anywhere
and worries about his rent.
Finds a house. Picks one out.
Loses his job and is left to shout
Now what?

Determined But Solitary

To get things done
is how he'd begun.
He'd work through the day.
At night he would play.
He'd take out his cards
and deal just for one.
He played solitaire
and had his fun.
He needed no one
to get things done
but in the end
he needed a friend.
