Every Door We Open 2

Every door we open can lead
us to either happiness or pain;
it can take us to the heights of pleasure
or down to the pains of hell.
Each door we open can change
our life forever if we want it to.
A new life lies beyond it
if we want to take the chance.

The Fire Still Burns

Fire never dies, just smoulders,
like love you need to fan it,
to keep the flame alive.
Like the smouldering embers,
that needs only a little attention,
to become a flame again.
So the parting lovers,
need only to kiss to ignite the flame,
and start the passion again.

Predators

Have you ever looked at a pond
and wondered what creatures
live there within.
Some can walk
and some can swim,
but exactly how many
vary from day to day.
Some are predators
and eat others daily,
and then they too are eaten
by larger predators there.

Evening Picturesque

As the day closes
the sun slips behind the horizon
filling the sky with a crimson glow,
silhouetting the mountains to purple
and tranquillity falls quietly over everything.
As the clouds of night race across the sky
and darkness brings peace once again.

Tarnished Leaves

The tarnished leaves of autumn
leave the trees lying bare.
Like skeletons reaching out
pointing skyward stare.
It is a closing season
and the tarnished leaves
are banished to the ground
to nourish the soil
for the new growth
when spring comes around.

Moonbeams 2

When the sun sets on a quiet bay,
the waters turn from red to gold.
When the moon rises,
the waters turn to white
under the moonlight.
Lovers stroll arm in arm
enjoying the enchantment that it brings
as love cascades on moonbeams
over every living thing.

The Big Cross

My cross is big and golden
and blinds any gunman
who comes after the preacher
with a gun.
I polish it brightly
so it reflects the sun
and blinds any demons
that might be lurking around.
The big cross is the trademark you see
of Dodgy Dave the vicar - me.

Between The Clouds

When you see the rays of the sun
streaming down between the clouds,
are they the stairways to heaven
we all talk about.
That golden glinting staircase
which leads to paradise.
I like to think so
every time I see the sun streaming
through between the clouds.

To Be The Best

To be the best at what you do
you must first believe
you are the best.
However, just in case
you’re no the best,
just pretend to be.
Think positive at all times
it is the only way
if you are going to succeed.
If you don’t
a failure, you’ll always be.

Edge Of Darkness

We stand on the edge of darkness
with the challenges we face
one wrong step and we fall
into the dark abyss.
Our decisions must be guarded
in case of a mistake we make
as we travel on life’s journey
walking the narrow paths
between our heaven and hell.
