Freaks
There are no freaks in our world
just sad and lonely souls.
Their disfigured bodies
cause some to turn away,
but look into theirs eyes
and you will see sadness there,
the sadness of rejection
throughout their growing lives.
Of their disfigurements
so many unkind words are said,
hurtful words,
that would hurt any ones feelings.
The say they do not understand,
that they have no feelings like us.
Years ago, they used to be paraded
on carnival sideshows.
There they were called freaks
and people paid money
just to gawk at them.
Today we are not much better

Beguiled By Circumstances
I am feeling beguiled by circumstances
well out of my control
tossed around like a rag doll
or a ship in rough seas.
I know the discomfort of loneliness
with only a game of solitaire to play
and each hand
drifting into the next
in an effort
to comfort my soul.
I feel lost in a blizzard
that numbs you to the bones
with winds taking my breath
away from me.
I feel isolated at times
no one there to hear my words
in desperations calling
gripped with fear
of falling into an unknown.
Friends are far away

End Of A Season
Here we are at the end of a season,
and as we depart today,
we take away all the memories
we have gathered during our stay.
We reflect on friendships we have made,
the ones we have lost and the ones we have.
Our leaving today is mixed with happiness,
sadness, and even a little regret
for the things we should have done
and did not get around to doing yet.
The happiness is all the laughter
we had while we were here,
the sadness if for the departed friends
whom we will never see again.
Though we will never see them,
their memories linger on.
They will still be with us,
even though they maybe gone.
As we leave today we must remember
the friends we have still,

Mole On My Thigh
Sitting on a sandy beach,
under a tropical sun,
watching the palm trees sway.
While someone with a romantic guitar,
serenades a couple of sweethearts,
locked in a loving embrace there.
I look around at the empty space,
there beside me,
wishing you were here with me.
Instead of a thousand miles away,
in the rain with someone else.
It takes two to start an argument,
both are guilty, not just one.
You walked away from my arms,
straight into his waiting there.
His smile looked more like a callous grin,
he had won and I had lost,
or at least that is what I thought.
Then came the telegram this morning,

Us Oldies
It is that time of the year,
when my birthday is looming in the air
and I begin to feel quite ancient.
I felt old when my children
presented me with their children
and made me a grandparent,
but when their children
started having children of their own
and stuck a great in front of grandparent
you really begin to feel ancient,
especially when you haven’t retired yet.
When we were young,
oh, those lovely blessed days
when the summers seem to last forever
and the sun always shone.
Life was much more laid back then.
Oh where have they all gone?
Then came the teenage years
opening up all our dreams
of being some kind of superstar.

I’ll Catch You When You Fall
You wanted so much to be a star;
wide eyed you looked at what could be,
so you started on your climb.
Not looking back at the misery,
you were leaving behind.
However, one day when your star should stall,
I will be here to catch you when you fall.
Friends have all told me that
you’ve turned your back on us here,
but I bet when you hear,
some distant train whistle blow
you stop for a moment
and something in your memory will recall,
that I’ll still be here to catch you when you fall.
You have moved on and upwards,
new friends you have by the score,
while your star is burning bright.
But what will happen when it begins to dim,

Golden Waves (The Aftermath)
As she walked away into the night
and left me standing alone,
it seemed an eternity before I could move.
I watched her silhouette
grow smaller and smaller
until it disappeared out of sight.
Tears rolled down my cheeks.
What was I to do?
In the days that passed,
the newspapers were filled with stories
of whom the world would
eventually call the fab four.
Their music echoed out from everywhere
as their coming had begun.
A dark cloud still hung low over me.
Working in the same place,
I often caught a glimpse of her
from time to time.
There was never any explanation
for her words that night.

If You Want To Become Obese, Catch A Cold (Fun Poem 37)
According to a news story, I read yesterday.
Every time to cough or sneeze,
you put on an extra pound or two.
According to the scientists, obesity can be party blamed
to the good old common cold.
Now if their figures are right
I should be weighing in at about ten tons by now,
as I rarely seem to be without a cold,
spring summer, winter or fall.
Mind you, it would help to explain
why people remark that my wife
seems a lot shorter than I do.
She is standing in my footprints,
which make potholes wherever I go.
However, it gets better than that;
they say the virus is transmitted through our dirty hands.
I am assuming they want us to wash
our hands every five minutes of the day.
In that case, we should carry a bowl of water
around our necks, with a bar of soap and some disposable towels.

Happy New Year Everyone
As we venture towards another year,
I sit and reflect on the passing one.
A year that has been filled
with surprises from start to finish.
The biggest surprise
is the love and friendship
that has greeted me
from all the four corners of the world.
My cup runneth over
with the joys that it has brought
to this heart of mine.
It is hard to believe
and I am still pinching myself
to prove that it is real.
I could never have imagined
at this time last year. (2006)
that I would be writing this
to say thank you to everyone.
The joy of just one friend
is something to rejoice for,

Ratbag (Fun Poem 109)
Ratbag was a pirate
whom sailed the seven seas
and the Spanish Main.
You won’t find his name in any history book,
as he wasn’t that good at being a pirate at all.
He was neither Long John Silver
nor Captain Henry Morgan.
His greatest claim to fame
was attempting to kidnap
a Polynesian Princess,
but feisty woman said,
“Ho, Ho, Oh no you don’t.”
Then promptly hit Ratbag
over the head with a coconut.
However, she was much better than
just conking him on the bonce
she ran off with his pirate ship
and his motley crew as well.
She left ole Ratbag stranded on an island
with the most ugliest women
