Happy Engagement Tara and Ezra

To two good friends
May happiness be with you always.

Love has sometimes a strange way
of bonding people together.
It has to sometimes show them
what they would be like
without one another.
My friends know only too well this is true
and the heartaches it brings.

Then getting back together,
they find love stronger than before.
Love cements this bond
with an engagement,
a commitment to one another
to journey on into future happiness.

In a world filled with troubles and strife
no road into the future

A Thorn Between Two Roses

Talking to a friend last night,
they were saying how
inspiration had deserted them.
I suggested several methods
of how to get it back.
Most of them they had tried,
but with no avail.
Then I suggested collaboration.
They were not to sure about that.
We write in different styles
came the reply.
Therefore, what I said
we could only give it a try.
Reluctantly she agreed.
I dug out a few miss tries
and sent them through.
In the meantime,
I was talking to another friend of ours.
Told her about the collaboration
and she asked if she could join in too.

A World Without You

As I collected, the children
from school yesterday
knowing you were far away
I wondered what I’d do
if you didn’t come home
and I had to live without you.

The thoughts were so sad
they brought tears to my eyes.
I don’t think I could go on;
I would want to live
in a world without you.
I couldn’t be that strong.

A world without you
would be an empty place.
There would be no laughter
to greet my ears
and just the very thought
brings tears to my eyes.

What A Crazy World

What a crazy world we live in,
and you can say that again.
For when we open up, ours mouths
sometimes the words we say,
just come out all wrong.

A Scottish friend of my wife
went to see the Doctor
as her pregnancy was over due.
The Doctor told her
he would give it another week
and then he would have to induce her.

When she went, home
and her husband asked how it went.
What she said next must
have come as a big surprise.
The Doctor said if I haven’t had it
in another week,
he was going to seduce me.

Society

Talking to someone today,
we reminisced of years gone by.
We reflected on things
when we were young and didn’t have,
and how much fun we had.
We didn’t have TVs, CDs or DVDs,
computers or anything like that.
We had to twiddle a cat’s whisker to hear
the radio we might have built.
What we did have was an imagination,
creating games we could play.
We didn’t destroy everything in our wake,
but looked after everything we got.
Today our society it doesn’t matter,
things are so easily replace,
if you break something today
you can always replace it tomorrow,
and the wastage that goes around,
because nothing means much anymore.
Years ago, we used to treasure

The Land Before God

Land of pink sky and blue sun,
green bed of swamps and marsh.
Monsters from another age
roam and dispel their wrath,
tyrannosaurus, brontosaurus, Woolly Mammoth.
Heat and flying things,
wing their way in an endless spring.

Land of grotesque and monstrous mould,
ever changing shapes behold.
Paradise with promise of future things,
filled with bellowing monstrous song,
teem with life, land and sea.
The stench of death hangs over thee.
Night’s darkness brings another day.

Land of cold and wintry white
moves southward slowly day and night.
Places hot, now white and cold,
creatures frozen in monstrous mould.

Old Boy Racer (Fun Poem 132)

While driving home one day
my old car blew up on me
and the transmission went kaput.
Upon getting another car,
I chose a smaller one,
the kind boy racers own.
Suddenly I became a speed demon
driving down the motorway doing a ton
with the wind ruffling
through the remaining hair I had.

One day while really pushing it,
blue lights began flashing behind me.
The cops told me to pull over,
which at once I did.
An officer approached my car
with me crammed behind the wheel.
'What speed do you think you were doing? '
'I don't know officer I couldn't see the speedo.'

The Mystery Remains

Sometimes when I am working
I notice shadows moving
out of the corner of my eye.
Their shapes are assorted,
animal and human,
but when I look around
the shadows are gone.
I know some act as a warning
of some imminent thing to come.
Don’t ask me how I know,
just suffice to say I do.
Throughout my life,
strange and unexplained things
have happen to me.
It is if I’m channelling energy
from some unknown source.

I remember back in the 1960’s
when I was just beginning writing,
I made a friend in London

Lazy Days (Fun Poem 111)

We all look forward to those days off
when we have no work to do.
The lazy days when you can have
that lie in bed you promised yourself to
and when you finally get up
out into the garden you go
to sit in a chair
and put your feet up enjoying the sun.
If you live in England it’s enjoy the rain.

How those days never seem to happen,
the lie in bed goes a miss
when someone wakes you up
telling you there is work around
the house that has to be done.
As for putting your feet up
you can forget about that to.
There is no rest for the wicked.
Oh my, what have I done?

Every Hoodie Has His Big Honk

New words pop up everyday
to add in the dictionary.
Now one of the later words is Hoodie
to go with the collection.
Now a Hoodie is someone
who looks a bit like a Monk.
However, what is the first thing that you see
when you spot one of them,
it is their trademark,
and I’m not talking about the hood,
I’m talking about their honk
that stretches out from within.
The bigger the honk,
the bigger the hood
to try to cover it.
Now Mick Jagger has his lips,
but a Hoodie always has his honk.
Everyone one is different,
just like a fingerprint,
even Scotland Yard have started
