The Lover's Lane
The silken threads of night
begin to darken the sky
as lovers walk in secluded places
arm in arm under the moon.
They kiss and talk small talk
then continue to walk again
as evening stretches into night
on the lover’s lane.

Chambers Of Solitude
Within the chambers of solitude,
we sometimes lock ourselves away
from prying eyes and angry voices
and in there we want to stay.
We make ourselves an island
impenetrable to all
except the lonely feelings
that pinch us everyday.

A Lone Piper
A lone piper played
on the opposite side of Loch Ness.
The music from his bagpipes
drifted through the morning mist
that hung inches above the water.
The soothing notes hung in the air
serenading the monster
reported living there.

Peaceful Pipes
I sat in our caravan
as the peaceful pipes
played a soft reverie of harmony
for all those who heard its song.
Their melody drifted on the wind
soothing everything it touched.
The peaceful pipes played
at the ending of the day.

Waiting
Life is full of waiting
no matter where you are;
you queue for hours
seemingly getting nowhere
waiting for your turn to fall.
The more you wait,
the more frustrated you get.
You feel your wasting you life
in queues always waiting.

Noise
Sometimes we crave silence
but everywhere there is noise.
The intrusive noise of a blaring radio
or children screaming at one another
at the top of their lungs.
All you want is silence
and all you get is
noise, noise and more noise.

Wedding Ring
Love is a wedding ring,
a little band of gold I give to you
under the eyes of heaven
for now and evermore.
Our love can stretch vast distances
whenever we are apart
for within that wedding ring
you hold the essence of my heart.

Memory Store
As we get older
some of us rely upon
memories to bring comfort.
Memories when we were young.
We sit back and daydream
of things that happened
a long time ago
instead of going out
and making more memories
for our memory store.

A Line
A LineI need a line to write
no matter what it may say,
a line to get me going
on a poem for today.
It could talk of romance
or it could talk of breaking up,
no matter what it is,
I just need a line to start
a new poem for today.

As Each Day Calls
The rustling leaves
of a summer breeze,
the butterflies waking dance
and the songs of evening calls
are ours to enjoy
and stand within our grasp
if we can wake our senses,
our eyes and ears
we will see and hear it all
as each day comes to call.
