Arrival Of Summer

The arrival of summer,
everyone is full of cheer.
The colours of the flowers
springing up everywhere.
Smiling faces greet the sunshine
everywhere you go.
It wraps itself around you
just to let you know
summer is here.

No matter what season comes to call,
it doesn’t matter whether it rains or snows
or the north wind blows cold
as long as you are at my side
I can weather any storm
because with you I know
your love will keep me warm.

For Ray

My friend’s partner Ray
has a hobby
and his collection
has earned him a nickname from it.
He collects Buddha’s
as others would collect books.
A large collection he has
that now people call him
the Buddha man.

My Left From My Right

Woke up this morning,
couldn’t tell my left from my right.
When I put my slippers on
my left foot went in the right
and my right foot went in the left,
with my feet pointing outwards
instead of inwards as they normally do.

Beauty of It All

Sunshine seeps through my window,
and set my heart aglow.
It warms this tired old body,
both in mind and soul.
The wonder of all creation,
is at our fingertips.
Just by reaching out we can feel,
the beauty of it all.

They say there is a magic island somewhere
where all our dreams come true.
A place where love rules

We fail to see how fast
the years have travelled on
until one day we are
prompted by a song.
The year seemed like yesterday
yet it was so long ago.
We then look back in an absent thought
asking where have the years gone.

Persistence

Persistence
is staying in the game
until the end.
When you run a race,
persistence is not the winning,
but the finishing.
Whether you are, first or last
it doesn’t really matter,
so long as you get to
the finishing post.

The world holds many surprises,
some good and some bad.
Some are upsetting and others bring joy.
No matter what surprise it is
they always lift us a little bit

You stand on a mountain
rubbing shoulders with the gods
shouting at the top of your voice
so everyone can hear
declaring your love to someone special
with the words I love you
