That is the sound of life.
Did you hear it?
Try again.

Close your eyes.
Sit perfectly still.
Listen to the background.
Listen.
Heard it now?
Good.
Remember it.
For it is all around you.
It's the true story.
Not the fiction you make of it.
It's real.

The Window

An arch, rectangle, round or square
A portal to your world
The window's form takes many shapes
Reflecting life unfurled.

A sign of light a place to view
From storm a shelter too
Where rain's transparent beauty's seen
Along with morning dew.

Life is there behind that glass
First seen from mother's breast
In every waking moment then
Until we're laid to rest

The Price Of Silence

The cross to bear that silence brings
When reason says it's madness
Can take the shape of many things
Eternal in it's sadness

A silence kept will test a soul
A task that most would feign
For truth exacts a heavy toll
When asked to then explain

So be of stout and strongest heart
Let conscience be your guide
No silence dare pull you apart
When truth is at your side...

Live it.

Break those chains kick those doors
Take back all that should be yours
Stand your ground and don't relent
Say it like they know it's meant

Be as one with who you are
Shine as bright as any star,
Reach into your inner being
Care not what the world is seeing

One more thing before I go
Something we all need to know
Don't hold back and grab each chance
Life's your first and only dance.

To listen is to see
Silence takes no sides
To think is to be free
Though fate alone decides

Faith is truth in mind
Heart's not always followed
Cruel is never kind
No matter how it's swallowed.

Man can fix and break
Armies march on speeches
Paths for us to take
Experience it teaches

Listen to the silence
And question not it's being
Repent your acts of violence
For listening is seeing....

Negative Thoughts

A dance without a rhythm
A song that's left unsung
A heart that's never given
Refusing to be won

A night that never see's the dawn
A love that's not returned
The soul that wonders so forlorn
From lesson's never learned

A cry for help unheeded
That echoes through the mist
A friend when they are needed
So often dearly missed

The weight of expectation
A transient that stays
So pay them no attention
Just keep below their gaze.

Dark Places.

Black faces dark shadows
Cold places tall gallows
Grey mornings harsh view
Start mourning lost you

Missed person sad times
Pains worsen lost rhymes
Heart slowing tears flow
Just knowing she'll go

Long evenings lone stare
Strange feelings don't care
Heart aching can't place it
Life breaking must face it

Solitary, momentary silence
Scary times akin an act of violence
Time won't heal, life won't forget
Just don't feel, avoid the regret.

Timewise

I have a mind to sit a while
let life wash over me
Sip coffee that will bring a smile
A takeaway for tea?

Some time to watch the daylight end
And night to have its way
The thoughts to which I must attend
All swiftly blown away

For space to think and hear myself
Are seldom in the plan
This elevation into wealth
The curse of every man

So here and now as i embrace
Our world in different ways
The broadest smile upon my face
Is how I'd spend my days.
