Conscience

Society may pass laws to make wrong right
But inside each man is the Conscience
Inherently it gives him moral insight
When Wrong disturbs his basic senses.

Man never needed human laws to say
It is basically wrong to kill another
When Cain killed Abel, he ran away
After he murdered his own brother.

Nobody saw him, no witnesses coming
But he was troubled by an inner turmoil
No one accused him but he kept running
From his own conscience he could not recoil.

A barrage of wrongs made right legally
Would eventually make humans react
Some may be blinded by insensitivity
But Right tilts the balance and that's a fact.

Lesson From A Frog

Man prides himself with intelligence
Human Logic rationalizing,
But what he really lacks is Patience
When the moment requires some waiting.

Today a frog in blithe expertise,
Had some short lessons laid in action.
He showed that trying should never cease,
For Success comes with Repetition.

He jumped on a green stalk, missing twice.
Then returned to make good his attempt.
Jumped once more, no defeat in his eyes -
He missed, but held the end of the hemp.

He climbed one leg up, still holding on,
His frog face tinged the trace of a smile,
His other arm grasped at victory won -
Sat on top of the leaf in a while!

A Speck of Dust

Hopes for today and plans for tomorrow
Lofty ideals and noble dreams
In an instant can turn into a day of sorrow
For Life is short and so fleeting it seems.

Time and Goals need to be early married
And the young need to focus mind and heart
Opportunity never for once tarried.
And Success can always quickly depart.

In a second, all can be out of sight
All men destined to be carcass
Like a breath, a flickering candle light
We are specks of dust, mere leaves of grass.

What A Friend Is

What is a friend?

One who stands with you
Through all the good and bad
Support you all the way through
Be there when you are sad.

One who can forgive
With whom you don't pretend
Though you have no wealth to give
He is always a true friend.

But when mistakes you make
He's ready with correction
He may hurt but not forsake
And will show the right direction

A friend has 'agape' love
You can always be who you are
He is a gift from God above

My Island Far Away

Across the distant shores
Where Silence dwells with Solitude,
A place I have been before,
Where Peace had been my daily food.

Soothing songs of palm trees
Dancing with Tranquility
Sways my hammock gently
And restful Sleep comes easily.

As blue waves kiss the shore,
And salty air embraces me,
Caress my very core -
Mermaid songs of the Sea.

In my island far away,
I always have companions.
Share my time, know my ways
Shape my thoughts and my opinions.

She Said There is No Hell

She stoically said there is no hell
Her irascible temper flaring
From her arrogant lips one can tell
A shallowness of heart appearing.

One so exalted and blessed by God
Would defiantly deny Divine Justice
Who has a place for the good and the bad
For the Book of Luke had mentioned this.

It is sad that a master of the human law
Has diligently read all the legal books
How can one judge when she does not know
That in the Bible she has failed to look?

From her cursing and foul language in court
To her lack of compassion and due respect
The lady judge lets her rage come forth
From one who denies hell, what can we expect?

Just For Fun List

Oh, I love the sea so much
I could have been a mermaid!
But then the people would laugh much
To see me topless, I'm afraid.

I'd love to climb the mountains
But I'm so scared of heights,
My aging knees would cry in pain
Before I get to see the sights.

I'd like to scuba dive someday
Perhaps in deep sea, snorkel -
But killer sharks are out today
It's best I stay in, oh well!

I'd like to ride the gondolas
Or surf the waves of Queensland,
In Mexico break some pinatas
Pick tulips in far Holland.

Falling Signs For Nations

Browsing through history
Observations reveal
A nation bound for depravity
Loses its political will

In degeneration of morals
In language erosion
Departing from the spiritual
And absence of direction

Engrossed in much hatred
Breeding violence
Not of peace instead
But discouraged citizens.

Focusing on wars
Investing in costly weapons
Decline is not very far
Power blinds a nation.

My Friend in Afghanistan

My friend in Aghanistan
Stationed in the frontlines,
He sleeps with his loaded gun
And has never stepped on a mine.

He is a brave young man,
Fighting in eternal wars
From Iraq to Afghanistan -
He may yet get a purple star.

I wrote him to say a prayer
And to connect him with some sanity,
For the trauma and carnage there
May break up a man mentally.

My friend in Afghanistan
My prayer for him was this:
That he remain a whole man
And may he go home in one piece.

Words Like Pebbles

Words like pebbles
Thrown down a pond
Will cause some ripples
That go around.

Words like pebbles
Never come back
They sink in people
That they attack.

Words can create
A thousand circles,
Pain resonates
As hurts unfurl.

Words released
Like pebbles drown;
The friendships cease
As they go down.
