Little Girls
Go softly with your steps, little girls
Enjoy the sweetest innocence
For soon this cruel world unfurls
Its dark reality and pretense.
Go swiftly with your youthful walk
Feel free, release the laughter
For Time will change the girlish talk
To memories you can't remember.
Then, too quickly will fly the hours
And vanishing will be the years
Soon a lady may be in the mirrors
Trying to wipe away her tears.
Go bravely through your life, little ones
Learn wisdom and have courage
For trials may test your Faith in the One
Who holds everything in life's pages.

I Will Not Just Rise, I Will Soar!
If you did not know
My hair was black and my skin brown
Would you read me so
And post the reviews down?
Maya Angelou had said she'd rise
From all that petty prejudice
Her poetry was such a surprise -
Shamed all with excellent ease!
The gift of pen is given free
For Art is Freedom's child
The healing Balm for you and me
The breeze of Calm, gentle and mild
Forget the look, never mind the color
Words that paint, arrayed are these
I will not just rise, I will soar!
I'm an Eagle for Poetry, and one for Peace!

For Our God Reigns!
What hollow, fickle minds construe
Exposing mental barrenness,
Foolish words never hold true
Such weight in verbose emptiness.
Mocking His Word is the one Sin
That does so anger Him, our God-
Rebellion reeling from within
Makes a man's heart very, very sad.
Our God He reigns in majesty
Despite their scorn and mockery-
He lives in us, our Victory!
Our God He reigns for all eternity!

Sincerity
Out front they said I could write
But behind my backs they sneered,
Such foolish pretense was not right-
Insincerity in the hearts that leered.
The ugly masks people wear
Destroy themselves in the end
Like rust and termites there
The erosion will inwardly bend.
When people say what they mean
And mean each word they say -
Truth is where their hearts lean
And with sincerity they will always stay.

Heart Anesthesia
Oh give me anesthesia
This breaking heart is torment!
I'll even take amnesia
To forget this pain Love sent.
Can't take the trip of Romeo
And Juliet in their exit,
Suicide's quick I know
But life's too fun to delete.
A doze of gin or brandy
May provide the cure I need
These bottles come in handy
But my pockets they will bleed.
A new source of euphoria,
An attraction that is new -
That's good heart anesthesia
And I hope that one is YOU.

A Memorial to Lost Love
Closing doors to a former love
Like graveyard soil thrown down a coffin
Will then be sealed by the rain above
To silence all passion felt therein.
Farewells like flowers lace the grave
Will soon dry up, wither, and die
Tears that flowed can never be saved
For the former love, in sleep there lie.
Closing doors leaves a permanence
Love's epitaph of finality
Snuffing out all remaining essence
To face the inevitable, Reality.
Goodbyes are distant words unsaid
Only the speech of grieving hearts
Bury the love that is now dead
Its cooling embers too soon depart.

Fear
Fear causes paralysis
Emotions are all numbed
Thoughts go may blank
As one becomes deaf and dumb.
Fear closes our eyes
To glaring truth that stares
Accepting all the lies
In silence, without care.
Fear locks our doors
To the beauty of life and choices
We lose sight of what we live for
Surrendered to muted voices.
Fear is a daily death
Like walls in a coffin sealed
An existence in useless breath
A vessel that can never be filled.

Just One Wish
I have but one wish and it is this:
That a ship of dreams will one day take me
To where you are and there to kiss
Each other in love, so affectionately.
To finally gaze in your loving eyes
To hold you in a sweet tender embrace
And to feel my heartbeat suddenly rise
As I see the love shown there in your face.
I have this one wish and I hope it's granted
That together we will be and remain that way,
There's nothing in this world I have ever wanted
Than to be with you Dearest, for all my days!

Slavery 2010
Ninety percent heroin
Flood the American market
Ushers the Afghan win
As the victory is now set.
No need for heavy warfare,
Addiction is the noose -
Enslaving the nation there,
Imprisoned in drug abuse.
From big political leaders
Down to normal kids in school,
From sports and big game players
To the rich Hollywood fools.
This is modern day slavery
And the enemy knows his plan,
Heroin chains will always be
A nemesis for the American.

Here Lies the Heart
Mark where lies the heart that loved you
In gravestone covered tomb of pain
Where night's eternal slumber will undo
The past affections washed in rain.
Silenced now from beats of passion
Deserted loneliness made still
Alone in hidden devastation
The heart that loved against its will.
Where now the vows that it had held?
Hopes that nurtured it in life?
Promises were dreams beheld
That killed its beat as with a knife.
Gone are the tears that now decayed
In mournful sighing deathly laid
Gone purpose, reason, intents prayed
The heart that loved you dearly paid.
