Where Are the Fireflies?
Mystified by a tiny firefly
I gazed in childlike trance
The magical flickering lights -
Did it carry in its hands?
And then came some more
Like earthly stars they twinkle
Around the tree trunk's core
Fairies dancing in a circle.
Fireflies are slowly fading
And I rarely see them now
Our air is suffocating
That is killing them somehow.
Will future children see
The magic of their beauty?
Or see them in the pictures
No lights that flicker brightly.

Roots, Trees, and Fruits
A tree is known by its root
The source of its first life
A fruit is known by the tree
As a man is known through strife.
The root of a man is his family
The tree is the man that has grown-
The words that he writes in poetry
Show the rearing he has known.

Sick In The Mind (Hackers)
Some people are sick in the mind
And sadly, they do not know it.
Mental disorders are easy to find
And those who indulge, their sanity forfeit.
Sick in the mind and rotten in the heart
Wallowing in darkness of soul
Malcontent they like to impart
In emptiness of Self they are never whole.
Those sick in the mind will someday decay
Themselves eventually get corrupted
Mark this, that there will come a day
That even in their own minds, they are rejected.

Chess Like That? (Mumbai 2008)
Just another round of the chess game
Rooks and bishops fall dead on the board
Apolitical horses have gone lame
As the dead count to a hundred soared
Black and white squares are now bloody red
Grieve for the pawns who've been blown up dead
Regroup, restart, this political game
Plot a quick 'rechauffe' of the same
And then fix a duel of nuclear kings-
For aren't your motives, just a chess thing?

Love in Pendulum
Our frayed affections
Plagued by constant doubts,
Defiled by questions
Assailed by Fear inside out.
Changing Love in pendulum
As failing promises were made.
Grieving hearts that Pain consumes,
There Cupid's winter now invades.
For Coldness found a vacancy
When Emptiness opened the door,
As Doubt appeared from dormancy
Trust and Love were there no more.

Your Diamonds
I do not own the hand
That writes freely your words
Nor will I try to tell you
How and what to write
No demands here, my friend
No selfish impositions
To stifle the ink that is yours,
The feelings only you can have
Little diamonds drilled
By your creative mind
They are your treasures
Yours alone!
So I in deep affection
Set you free
To be YOU
To lay before us
Your own colors
Your Jewels
Because you have
My Respect.

His Treasured Possessions
Even in darkness
Light dawns for the upright
Though there be sadness
Hope is not far from sight.
The rivers may rage;
The waters may swallow,
'Be of good courage'
His Word told you so.
In your emptiness
Hear well and be still -
Trust in His Kindness
Believe in His good Will.
For the God Who called you
He can never lie,
We're His Treasured Possessions
And that is YOU and I.

The Greatest Gift
Today is Christmas after
We had no gifts from yesterday
It was a usual lovely dinner
With much to thank for and to pray.
But I am still unwrapping
God's greatest Gift to me,
His Love in Jesus keeps on coming
Each day is Christmas, I can see.
His Gift had blessed my family
With simple joys and love,
Christ in us gives Peace to be
A daily feast from up above.

Learning to Love
Those who love faithfully
Are the endangered species
That breed is fading slowly
For love is quick to cease.
Broken hearts and promises
Are a dozen for a dime
Broken lives in emptiness
Go on suspended, lost in Time.
No more the faithful, none the true-
Extinct and now are things of past
Rejected love and care that's due
Are not received, they never last.
True love to be renewed
Must anchor on the giving
And focus on what's good
At all times, be forgiving.

Death -74, Soccer 0
Is that a way to distort
The beauty of a soccer game?
For killing is never a sport
What we see is such a shame.
Chaos scored seventy-four
As Egypt lost more sons
Violence has won even more
That nation has been undone.
Oh such a terrible waste
And for unjustified reasons
Lives lost in one brief haste
Of uncontrolled confusion.
Take hold of yourselves, Egyptians
Unbridled emotions control
Show the world you are real men
Never again let Death take its toll.
