A Distant Love

The most ardent love, although sincere
Cannot deny Fate and Destiny,
Those endless nights of lonely tears
Will not bring you here to be with me.

The dreams we had and many plans
Made with much Love and deepest Hope
They drift away like shifting sands
We both despair, in heartache grope.

No ending here, mere thoughts unfold,
Rewinding memories of the past
A love story that cannot be told
And a love too distant... to even last.

Exit

It is always best
To be quite honest
Rather than pretend
It is not the end
Better draw the line
It isn't too much wine
That is an old excuse
For careless words we use
But things are now so obvious
Though you try to refuse
To face the reality
That we're not meant to be
Goodbye may not sound good
It's the only thing we could
Think of for the moment
Say with disappointment
And for the last time we tell
All the best to you, farewell!

Fireflies

Those little twinkling lights
They hide from progess' breath
Escape from smog and heights
In forests refuge set.

A rarity to sight
This vanishing specie
Before, when it was night
They were a joy to see.

In childhood I was blessed
To see them dance through trees
With lights and twinkles dressed
Like happy little fairies.

Will future children know
Nature's feast for the eyes?
Or sadly will these grow
Extinct as fading fireflies?

Smile For Tomorrow

Cry silently through the night
In cloak of dark and dim lights
And pour the pain in endless drops
When morning comes it will just stop.

Tears were made to wash the pain
Restore the shattered heart again
For though tonight there's drowning sorrow
All days don't rain, there's sun tomorrow.

For Love is a rainbow after the rain
Will come and embrace you once again
Perennial as the green grass grows
Your smile awaits a bright tomorrow.

Indecision

INDECISION

by Cynthia B. Baello
July 5,2008

Annoying thing, this indecision-
Wry deceit, unjust vexation.
Waste of time and of attention,
Diverts one's thoughts,
Drains affection.

Creates a maze with one's own mind,
Directions, goals are hard to find.
Weigh the options,
And then rewind,
Not deciding
Is unkind.

------
'When we aim at nothing, we hit it

Killing A Poem

They caught a Poem today
A newborn by its writer,
Dissected it all the way
From punctuation to each letter.

They drained it dry of meaning,
Analyzing every word.
The Poem lay wondering
For being, why it suffered.

Some called it cruel names,
Banishing the very essence.
It lay on the paged frame
Crushed in its Innocence.

Its only crime was content -
Perhaps to them, displeasing,
A mere victim of argument
Had to face some editing.

Bias

Vacuous assumptions
That mask Prejudice
In Bias is deception
Always dressed in Malice.

Egoistic theory
Colored in pretense
Verbose filigree-
That never make sense.

Perhaps the ink of Envy
Fills the noxious pen
To dash down good poetry
And display Impertinence.

My Valentine Is Blue

The day of Hearts approaching
And you, I will be missing

That Valentine card is still here
Catching my every tear.

For another love had taken
And left me lonely and forsaken

Words on cards are never true
My Valentine isn't red... but blue.

If only words can deliver
This card's beloved Sender

What a great day Valentine!
Same as last year -

when you were mine.

What Is Poetry?

A language of the heart
Its touch of words immense!
The emotions it imparts
Bears truth, or some pretense.
However read, it connects
With a message there to show.
Of myriad thoughts or objects,
In poetic lines they flow.
I have no vain expertise
I just love Poetry with passion,
And my words may be amiss
But purpose there finds fruition.
Yes, anyone can dance
To the tune of Poetry!
Inspired, find there romance
Or friendship and harmony.

Proof Speaks Louder

The foolish blurt out silly things
Their confined minds fail comprehension
For a famine of Wisdom is revealing
Their limited scope of brain absorption.

Capricious little declarations
Disguised to twist and thus create
A bigoted view, a sheer distortion
Of facts they cannot substantiate.

'Proof of the pudding is in the eating'
Thus the old saying aptly declares
Each time that someone does a reporting
Present the proof - I will always dare!
