Just Poetry...Period

Poetry is setting yourself free
To pour out like vintage wine
The myriad thoughts that you see
And cup them in words and lines
To be drank in sheer revelry

Poetry turns you into a painter
Imagined scenes in the mind arrayed
Distant lands, places you remember
Colors of life so abundantly laid
The joy, and tears, or love's dying ember.

Persecution Complex

Forget the color
Go take the leap
And ask no favor
Your name you keep.

Forget the complex
There's no persecution
Those thoughts just vex
Block Determination.

Get out of your quicksand
Life is about working
With Faith you can stand
Cease the complaining.

If some can conquer
And others can win
Why remain a loser
Your battle's within!

High School

High school days used to be fun
With friends and crushes and all
But now the teacher fires a gun
And shoots at will without a call.

High school now is never the same
Gangs and drugs proliferate
Life and future are just some game
Kids play and lose at a growing rate.

Wheelchair

He cannot taste the freedom

Of walking once again

The days and nights may come

His legs feel no more pain.

Like a candle melting slowly

His life just ebbs away

And fleeting Hope may swiftly

Leave words he cannot pray.

Illness had brought him there

Imprisoned in his wheelchair

Only Fools Stop Loving

Only fools stop loving
Those utterly unfeeling
Numbed by too many scars
That have sadly turned to hating.

Only fools stop loving
For they have lost awareness
Of life and its true meaning
Of Joy, and Hope, and Goodness.

Only fools stop loving
That is maybe the reason why
This number one fool He was saving
And on the Cross He had to die.

Reborn

Fifteen years
Trying to put
Shattered pieces back
Daily, such a draining chore
There was no glue for it
To be done perfectly
Even with care
I was tired.

Perhaps the numbness
From repeated breaking
Woke me up
From the dream
Awake enough
To walk away
Picking up my pieces
So I can go on
Living
Again!

Multiplication

Never expect the loss of one life
To cease the cause of any strife
Nor will the quick demise of one
Close the book and all is done
For there are causes you can't kill
And through it all, they go on still
The blood they shed just multiplies
As many as stars are in the skies.
What message then will you send
Of your enemies, there is no end?

Curses and Malice

Curses and malice go together
Like marital partners they sashay

And like dirty words they are forever
Recorded in Heaven everyday.

And those that release them are in bondage
In shackles and chains of obscene language

Pulling them lower down eternal fire
Sealing their fate in hell so dire.

Visa Blues

No, they would not let me
The age was a major obstacle
Old people are liabilities
It's like praying for a miracle.

Funny how they seem to let
Those lazy bums and addicts in
Those radicals who simply get
The system messed up thin.

This immigration blues
Are getting into my nerves
And those that have the clues
Are those with money I observe.

Words of Grace

Words that uplift another
Are words God blessed with grace

They leave the hearer feeling better
And show respect for the human race.

Words, not curses, bear eternal fruit
And multiply the goodness in life

These words should then be our pursuit
Not cursing words that will cause strife.
